Running and Walking

Lake Ginninderra is the ultimate suburban location for recreational running and walking. Whatever your interest, there are paths and tracks that offer something for everybody.

Following the Pedestrian Path around the foreshore of Lake Ginninderra is a cool 7km. For the most part, the Path is relatively flat and paved/sealed the whole way. The Path is wide enough for runners, walkers and cyclists to share alike.

If you prefer something a little shorter, the Northern Peninsula has a 2.5km circuit to follow. The path follows the foreshore and crosses through the middle of the Peninsula between Dulwa and Bimbi Beaches.

Starting from the bridge opposite The Lighthouse at Eastern Valley Way Inlet and following the path towards Ginninderra Drive, before crossing at the Bridge and continuing straight along the middle of the Northern Peninsula, before rejoining Ginninderra Drive at the Spillway and continuing towards the Western Foreshore before finishing at Beissel Street is a 5km distance. Continuing onwards to The Lighthouse along the Pedestrian Path past Emu Bank’s Eat Street will earn you 6km for the round trip.

There are more competitive events held throughout the year including the weekly 5km Park Run on a Saturday. Visit the Events Page for more details.

If you are looking for a regular group to run with or get some coaching to improve your overall fitness, the Fast Running squad train on a regular basis from Lake Ginninderra. Contact their Head Coach for more details.
